The TW5-6 is Very tempting. .575 lift with a 37* IVC.

Wood is a cam magician... His TW6 408 on mine hits early, hits hard and stays for the party to near redline.

Been doing a little searching on the cam swap process and came across this post in the touring forum.

I recently purchased the se pro stage IV 103" kit from HD... Getting ready to put it on the bike, bu before I put this thing on, do you think it is worth it to not install the SE 260 cams that come with the kit and pay the extra money for the Andrews 54H cams instead? I see that you are putting in the 17 tooth crank sprocket and was wondering what difference that would make as well. I mean, as long as I am going in, I only want to go in there once and do it right. I keep hearing that the power from the 260's come's late, but the dyno sheet in the se pro catalog shows the torque breaking 100 early and gently curving back down to below 100 at around 5500 RPM. However, it also shows the HP breaking 100 at 5000 RPM. Do you think the andrews cam would bring on the HP sooner? And what about the 17 tooth sprocket, this is entirely new to me... what effect would that have?

Sorry, just having some last minute jitters, and have a lot of money into this and don't want to f it up over a couple hundred bucks at this point.

I'm no engine builder but the 54H is a pretty darn good cam.

The 17t sprocket is going to advance the timing by 4* since I am not doing any headwork, this will somewhat simulate that.

Personally, for the money you spent on that kit, you should KNOW that is what you want. Why stage 4? You could have done the basic 103 with some headwork and a set of a good cams and still be rockin more power than what you'll get from that stage 4 kit out of the box.

Like I said, last minute jitters... with my lack of experience, I looked at the dyno sheets available, and looked at the one that was in the se catalog. Not that much difference, except for HP coming to 100 at 5000, instead of 4500. As far as the buying the stage IV kit, everyone I spoke with had a different idea about what combination I needed to get the same amount of power, very confusing to coordinate all of those pieces and gaskets and lifters, etc. The stage IV kit has everything in it, and I can probably sell the take-offs and get some money back... Which is why I am jittery about the cams... they will be worth more if I don't use them, so I was just looking for another opinion on cams before I go in. I am sure that I will be satisfied with whatever I do, for about a year, and then... who knows.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate the opportunity to learn from people with more knowledge about these engines.
