First off, the 06 Dyna is different in so many ways to previous Dynas and other 06 TC-88s that you should not rely on what went before. If you look in the parts manual (99439-06) on page 36 you can see that there is a tube cast into the oil pan that lines up with a hole in the bottom of the transmission for draining the oil from the transmission. This is on the right side of the bike. If you drain the transmission with the bike on the jiffy stand, I'll bet you will leave about 6 oz. of old oil in the transmission.
Mobile-1 synth 75-90 gear oil works best for me. Mobile- 1 20-50 is what I use in the engine and primary when I can find it, I beleive that it is now 15-50. HD oil is not going to kill your bike but it's not going to preform as well as the Mobile-1. I haven't checked yet but I'll bet that the primary should be checked with the bike upright.
Synthetic oil doesen't actually leak; it flows through the gasket material and can leave a mark at the seams which is easy to wash off. The quantity is insignificant (99 1200 S Sportster, the Dyna is too new).
BTW, I always buy a parts manual and a shop manual for all my bikes. It really helps make the written word clear.
Hey Mudd. Yea first would be my experience, bike ran hotter was noisier
and was very hard shifting, real hard to find neutral.
When i drained my tranny i was amazed at how much metal fuzz there was on the little magnet.
Ive also done alittle research and found that hd syn3 is not a true syn but rather a blend and not rated very favorably.
Also if you listen to the testamonies of most people they will
say the same about how the bike ran with and then with out syn3.
Mine is certainly not hard to find neutral, and shifts easily with the HD syn.
Have drained the cavities three times and
there has been near zero debris on the magnets.
Did run hotter before I went with the SERT.
Wait, now it runs like a cat with it's tail on fire.
After 7500, I may try one of the other lubricants,
and see if I notice any difference.

Four different bikes, 3 were all serviced within the past 130 hours.....
Fluid levels were from the middle of the top arrow (F) to the top of the F.....
1 Quart was placed in all........
and the dipstick was rested on the top of the threaded cavity.......
So there you have it....
As long as the fluid is between the 2 triangles and the top of the F (Full), you are okay.....
