My 06 Low Rider is at the dealer with the bad Inner Primary bearing. So bad in fact that it ruined the case. They wanted $1500 to repair. I did some searching on this and it seemed that the factory was taking care of this for other people. The response I got was that they would pay for half. The bike has 23,000 miles on it. I feel like I am getting the shaft! Called HD customer service and they said this was determined by the regional rep. and they were not going to change their offer. I bought this bike new and it is my first HD. I love the bike but this is ^&$@*^%#! What do you think?
I think it's just plain bad business and corporate arrogance. Internally they know of the problem they have, otherwise why would the fix it for some, and then change the design. Bitch louder!
One issue for you might be the mileage - I've seen posts on IPB failures with much fewer miles. HD might take that into consideration when negotiating warranty coverage.
FWIW, yelling, screaming, calling the dealer and MoCo bad names generally won't help your case. Remember what Mom taught you - you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
wow ruined the case! how long did you ride it with the bad bearing in there? i would try a new dealership. write a letter. speak to the owner of the dealer. get as much info on it as possible... hope these help ya bud
