Mine is going under the knife again to help smooth out the lines with a new tank. Probably going to redo the back bone and possibly the down tubes.

The tear down for a remake

Fitting up the tank to get an idea on the lines

we’ll see how it goes, it’s at 32.5 now don’t want to go any further than 34. My trail is about 5.5” now. I may tray some 2* trees, that would put me close to 3.5-4” I just haven’t found any that look nice yet.

I set my trail on my 98 Fatboy to 4.8 or 4.9", I forget exactly and now the handling in the Twisties is awesome.. More like a Softail Custom now..

getting the frame cleaned up for the new backbone but I need to decide if I want to redo the down tubes or just weld in gussets to tie the backbone to the down tubes.

Based on your last couple of thoughts 3.5- 4" of trail Is not going to be stable at speed. Seeing where you have the frame at now I would just change the rake right there and then yeah you're going to have to use some kind of gussets to tie that back in but 2° in the frame I think would be better than 2° with a set of trees..

im not trying to get more rake, just if the trees may pull trail into the 4 range. That said I’ve not seen anything that has the looks I want for the bike. I really like these cleaned up sportster trees
