I guess you only run Syn3 or the stock Harley fluid since that's what Harley told you to do in the manual?
I'll keep "wasting" my money as well. My bike ain't complaining. Some people spend more on a pack of cigarettes than the cost of the fluid we are talking about.
I heard if you change it every 500 miles it will last as long as a Jap bike.
I hope so, when I sold my 2000 GSXR 750 in 07 it had 80k miles on it. I changed the oil every 500-1000 miles using plain jane Castrol GTX 10w 40 auto oil. It ran like a champ when I sold it, the only thing I noticed was it seemed the transmission got a tad bit notchy in its old age. Other than that I beat the ever living crap out of it. It rarely saw a normal day, mostly all mountain runs, tached out in the first 4 gears and sometimes 6th although rare.

Nope I run Mobil 1 20W50. I'm just saying, it is not neccessary to change it before the recommended intervals. While we are at it it is not necessary for me to run Mobil 1 20w50 either, I like to waste my money on it and you like wasting money swapping it out too soon.
Both of our bikes aren't complaining so we should be fine.
Oh and I only get to put between 10,000 - 12,000 a year on mine so mine isn't rode as much as I'd like either MrMax.

There's a reason Harley-Davidson prints a Service Manual. Personally, I wouldn't point out to the world that I failed to read and/or comprehend the user manual or service manual and check the picture twice before draining a critcal fluid.
why not? you seem to have no problem pointing out to the world that you're a douche!
