Default Sidewall Scrape/Damage on Install

Had my local indy put my wheels and tires on just a couple of weeks ago. Was cleaning up the bike today, and noticed a scrape on the sidewall of the front wheel. Although not much, the scrape does scar the rubber to a certain extent. See pic attached.

I'm definitely calling them tomorrow, as they are closed today. These were brand new tires. The picture isn't that great, but do you think there will be any issues riding it until then? I've had it out a couple of times already, and no issues before noticing today. Just don't want to have some kind of blowout, as I can't see if there was any of the same kind of damage on the tire rim under the wheel.

Thanks.

If there isn't any cord material exposed you should be ok. If there is ANY, he should replace it.

If there is ANY cord material exposed I would want it replaced.

Wow. That is pretty poor work. Mounting a tire is not exactly rocket science. I would want it replaced regardless.

Looks like they marred it while mounting on rim. Sidewalls are pretty tough so you're probably good to ride on, but definitely address w/indy.

Thanks for the replies. The scrapes didn't reach the cords. They are probably 1/32" thick. Still really chaps my *** though. I'm not sure how you would miss this if you were mounting the tire, and they should have been up front about it.

I think that I'm going to ask for a new tire. We'll see where it goes.

I wouldn't like that either. Too bad you waited so long to inspect them.

I sent them a note today with a picture. We'll see where it goes. I don't use them for much, as I do a lot myself, but if they value my business, and don't want to turn me back to the local HD dealer, then $100 tire shouldn't break the bank.
