Going to have to change the jetting in teh carb as well as I am sure that will c ool it sdown a bit. Right now it has a 180 main and a 45 pilot which I thought was perfect but I am getting low RPM deceleration popping too. First I'll adjust the afr screw and if that does not work the jetting will be swapped. For anyone else with a bike in this year range and a carb, what jetting are you running, and how many turns out do you have on your afr screw? I think mine is at 2 or 2.5 right now which should be optimum but it most definitely is not. The only other thought I have is that the intake manifold gaskets could be shot which is very possible as the gas mileage is far from great with the current setup and i would think it is running way rich but the plugs say different.
Once again hindsight is 20/20 as I should have changed the intake manifold gaskets while I had the tank off. I even have the gaskets already.
dont know what gear drive cams i have as po put them in , but im running 200 main and 48 slow , stock is 190 and 45 , air fuel is 2 1/4 out .
what happenend to painting the inside of pipes with ceramic coat to cut down heat ?
The jet hot is still an option. Maybe I do have stock jets then. Hmmm. I'll have to pull it apart again make sure I remembered the jet numbers correctly. I think a twist on the afr screw will help too. Thanks for the info.

i use 3 coats of vht ceramic coat on inside of pipes , under 10 bucks and works well keeping heat down
That is an option as well. The jet hot is pricey. Not sure how much of the inside of the thunderheader I can get to with a spray can as it is all one piece unlike your pipe. Thoughts?

hmm see your point , if you could get it in a can bet you could roll it around in pipe
