Haha im running the 12.6" shocks and i still scrape the pegs every now and then.....i would have gone with taller shocks but im too short
This bike is so high off the ground that moving it around sitting on it is a chore. It feels much heavier than it really is. The softail weights at least 125 lbs more and feels light as a feather due to how to the ground it is. Rather ironic I think.

Hey aren't you supposed to back at work now? Yeah, I always trip on the seemingly extra weight when I roll it into the garage. You had lowering shocks before?

yeah i had 11" progressive 412 heavy duty shocks. rode like a rigid
i am at work haha
i use computers 8 hrs a day so i always have the forum open to waste some time lol
Will do. I read the procedure in the manual a few weeks ago. It looks a tad bit more complicated than a regular set of forks but I don't seeing it being difficult at all. I'm going to talk to our tech and see what he thinks I should use for fork oil weight. I am thinking se heavy which I don't know the weight of.
I rode my softail today and realized how much of a difference the fairing on the FXDXT with the 14" shield makes. Damn, it is peaceful and quiet on the freeway with the fairing. Nto so much without one.
I rebuilt a set of Showa 49mm recently for a dirt bike, never these 39mm ones though.
The only difference from the Harley damper rod style fork is the cartridge rod bolts to the top cap and you have to remove that from the top cap so the spring and top cap will be free for removal. Loosen both the compression clicker and rebound adjusters to full loose before disassembly.
The SE fork oil is 15wt I believe. Let me know what Race Tech recommends and I would probably use Bel Ray Fork Fluid over the SE stuff.
I am looking forward to the pics and tech info on this project.
Anyone with one of these bikes, should look into SPUTHE stabilizer's (front&back), this keeps the bike aligned, at speed, a truly necessary part. (Made a remarkable difference)
Good Post, Be Well !
I ordered a bag for the back seat of my bike this morning too. It is a cheapie 10x8x5 leather bag. A friend of mine with a Dyna has one and I think it will work well. I plan on attaching it to the drivers backrest and having it sit on the passenger seat. I think the saddlebags will be for trips only but don;t really know until I get them in and see how they look in person. They should be here today or tomorrow.
Here is the bag. http://www.google.com/products/catal...CIUBEPMCMAM4Cg
