Project FXDXT is underway
The pile of parts is growing. yesterday the TH in black arrived along with adjustable push rods, push rod tubes, torrington b148's and a few other things. Today all my steel braided lines came in. Just waiting on the cams and the cam plate to get started on that part of the build. the tins I am figuring will take at laset another couple of weeks although my painter said 1 week.

I guess I have top reveal the paint job now so you guys can help me decide which will look better. It is going to be House of Kolor black with gold flake. I prefer the Knucklehead decals as they have some gold in them too whereas the 59/60 decals are red and silver.
Let me know what you think please.
I got a 19" upper front brake line for the high club bars and I am not sure it is long enough. I'll find that out tomorrow when I mock it up. The lower lines are coming from NC so they are not here yet. I'm gonna get some heat shields for the TH too, black of course.
s far as the lowers are concerned and powder coating them, what do I do with the adjusters on them? Do they come off easily? There has not been much time to read the manual this week and I left it at home of course, not that there would be any time to read it at work regardless. Also were can I get the black fork boots for the forks? I don't like the Har ley ones as they don't look right in my opinion. They need to squish up like a spring. The Harley ones do not squish up like this. If anyone has pics please post them.
Thanks for all the help. The Dyna is a new world for me.

I found the parts on the web at several places. Only thing is the boots are like $42 ea. If you find them cheaper let me know

Throttle and idle were self explanatory and very simple. Bolted on the new brake lien which I was afraid was too short but it is going to be just long enough with the banjo on the end of it. I got a 19" upper brake line for those who are wondering and 32" throttle and idle cables. 30" would have been fine. The bars are 13" tall.

I didn't get to the clutch cable yet as I need a tranny trap doo r gasket. Here are the Brembo's all mocked up. They bolt right on. As far as shimming them I am not sure if it is going to be necessary. I tried without a shim first and it looked okay and then I used a very thin washer (don't know the size) and it seems like it may be too far over. It is really difficult to tell without having the brake system compelte so we will find out in a few dyas when the lower lines get here.
I pulled the wiring for the bars and such back through the frame too. This was very easy without the fender on the bike and took a matter of minutes. I tucked the excess wire in the rear neatly into the battery box and it seems fine.

Did the DK customs horn and coil relocations. The horn kit took 2 minutes, the coil relocation about an hour. Here is the horn kit before install. The horn mounts to the inside of the crossover between the doen tubes. I actually bent my bra ket a litte to get the horn back in as far as I could. It came with step by step instructions making everything as easy as can be even for the novice.

Here it is installed. Nice and loud.

The coil kit has more of an impact on looks, but you can't do it without the horn kit if you wish to run a horn. Both of these were much easier for me as I have the tins off the bike right now. Here is the coil mounted to the bracket ready for mounting where the horn normally is.
I did not know the length of wires that I needed so I got the cut to fit wires. The cutting and fitting of these was simple. Kevin at DK had advised me to use dish soap to get the boot over the connector on the side of the wire that was cut to fit, but I di not even need that. It slipped right on. Easy peasy. Here is the coil in its position on the bike.

All the DK stuff can be had here. http://www.dkcustomproducts.com/
I'd like to work with Kevin to make a key relocation bracket for my bike as well as I really dislike the spot that it is in. See what we can come up with for these older Dyna's.
This week the cam plate will be pulled, cams pressed into the new cam plate and new cams and all installed over the weekend. Who knows when the tins will be back but I don't want to rush my painter as I want a nice paint job so they will get here when they get here.
