I am thinking maybe there is an issue with my rear motor mount or something. Logic would dictate that although the V&H which is going back on had no issues. Their bracket mounts a little different.
Here is a pic of the TH bracket which is cracked in a different spot now. The weld held up fine. I'm done with this pipe.
I put the V&H propipe that came with the bike back on which has some sort of welded in baffle in it. I much prefer the way that the V&H bracket mounts to that of the TH but teh TH was making much better power. So, the question now is fatcat or Bassani Road Rage. Any personal experience from anyone else here?
There also seems to be a bit more vibration in the grips with the propipe.
My only experience is with the D&D fatcat on my FLHT....it's been on for 2 years and doing great....I did have to have it coated again after the first year....but looks great now.
On my FXDXT I'm still running the stock head pipes with the old SE mufflers on them....they have held up very well.

Jim, thanks for the info. Everyone who I know who has a fatcat loves it. A buddy has a fatcat on his wide glide and digs it. It has never scraped the ground which is one of my concerns and it sounds wicked. I avhe never ridden his bike to see what kind of power it has but his bike has a 95 kit and 211 cams so it would not be an apples to apples comparison either.
After a 1500 mile trip over the weekend I have come to the conclusion that the bike already has a 95" build. This was made evident by riding with a CVO 110 and a Hayabusa that I came across on a mountain road. I also had the opportunity to ride a friends FXD that has a 95" kit and 203 cams with stock heads. the bike is a 2005. It felt weak compared to my bike in every way. I am now wondering if my bike has ported and polished heads and what else has been done to the motor. Someone grabbed my clutch lever and said that it felt really hard to pull which leads me to believe that it probably has the upgraded clutch spring as well. The only way to find out for sure (the previous owner was the second owner and said everything was stock (he was apparently clueless)is to pull the motor apart and have a look see.
The good news is I will not need to buy a big bore kit although I might change my cams again but am not really sure on that. I am still considering some heads off an 07 or newer bike and getting them ported and polished as it is a relatively economical way to go. Who knows at this point in time.
I also had the opportunity to put the Lyndall Carbon composite rotors through their paces on the trip.
Let me tell you that this bike stops, and on a dime! I took the bike up to the triple digits several times to test the rotors and the stopping power was amazing. According to Lyndall the weight of the rotors is 1/5th of that of a stock rotor. They cool 5 times faster as well so it seem that 5 is the magic number. I am convinced that if these rotors were going to warp they would have already from the excessive amount of work they were put through on this trip. There is not a chance to ride the bike in this fashion here in the city where I ride on a daily basis. All in all I am very happy with the rotors and would highly recommend them to anyone who is seeking a better rotor. After all, brakes and tires are the two most important safety features on a bike.
Back to the FXDXT and performance. I had set the shocks two clicks from the stiffest on the rear as I had a heavy bag (mostly tools) back there. The fronts were set on the stiffest except the compression which left about 2 lines showing by the fork cap. I was wondering about the high speed wobble as I avhe read quite a bit about it but was yet to experience it. I am happy to say that I still have not experienced the high speed wobble although I do not have a True Track or a Sputhe on the bike. Why? I don't know. As I said above I was well in excess of 80 MPH several times for quite a while.
My guess is that the superior suspension on the FXDXT took care of those possible issues. I am now not really interested in getting a stabilizer although I am sure it would give the even better handling. Maybe once I get some bills paid I'll get one just for curiosity sake.
The Thunderheader came off before the trip and the old ghetto propipe went back on. This pipe has a baffle that has been welded in and is definitely not stock. I am happy to say that after 4 days of pushing the bike to it's limit the bracket is still rock solid. No cracks, no issues at all. I will be checking on how tight the bolts are today when I get a chance. So, the question now is what to do about another exhaust. I was thinking about a fatcat but finances dictate that it stay the same for now. The Thunderheader had a lot more low end than the ghetto propipe but it will do for now.
Another thing I noticed when I let a few of my friends ride my bike (yes I let them ride it) is that my budget tail light with the signals in it performs as such. It is very hard to see in the sunlight until you hit the brakes. This i san issue that will avhe to be addressed eventually. I am not sure if it is the angle of the light or what as it is super bright when it is in your face and not on the bike. Anyway, it is what it is for now. I wonder if the Kuryakyn version is any brighter? Anyone have one? How is it?
When you go looking for a Bassani, just be aware that the fitment is not the best for our older Dynas, especially on the 1D12RB which is the pipe I have. My guess is because it is supposed to fit 1991-2012 that the earlier frame has a few fitment issues.
Might be better off to go with a Bassani 13222J which looks almost the same but fitment is listed for 91-2005 and not 91-2012. I wish that pipe was available when I ordered mine...
I'm using a LSR-II exhaust on my FXDX. However its loud, but an excellent performer. Look at them in your research. The fit/finish is the best I have seen.
If you like them, I will be replacing mine soon with the Pro-stock spyder version to lower the noise. Let me know if you are interested. Its a solid pipe.
Pm me a price on your LSR and send me a pic if you don't mind. My tail light is the same style as d2 but I bought it off ebay. I think it is the same light but I am not certain as I have not had both in my hands to compare.
