I just dropped the forks off at a shop that has a spring compressor so that they can put the springs in for me. We were unable to locate one we could borrow unfortunately. Anyway, I'll be picking up the internals reassembled in the morning and will finally be getting it all back together tomorrow so I can ride my FXDXT for the weekend. One more day to wait.
Please post pics of the internals and reassembly process.
This is the part that sucks. I will not be there when the internals get reassembled as I dropped them off at another shop. I thought of you immediately and thought oh well. I can't wait any longer to get this thing put back together. A few more weeks for my wheels to get here is long enough to wait for anything. If I could just walk out of work and take off all the time I want I guess I could stand there and watch but that isn;t going to happen right now.
Unfortunately the bike will not be rideable until next week, circumstances being what they are. The springs are yet to be changed out so I will wait it out and roll on the softail this weekend.
Someone asked about how I mounted the gauges on my t bars. I used two clutch cable clamps from Drag Specialties and wrapped some electrical tape around the bars so that they would not scratch. The clamps are about $12 each.
The saga continues. The shop I took the cartridges, valves and springs to could not figure out how to get the cartridge apart to put the valve in? They put the springs in with no spacers and the Race Tech springs are far shorter than the stock springs which I didn't realize until I got it back here to our shop. I will be getting my money back after leaving this stuff there for a week for 30 minutes worth of labor and I avhe shipped everything to John Conely at Conely's Customs and will let him install everything for me as I know he knows his Dyna's and will install it all properly. He will be getting the stuff today so I am hoping that he can ship it back out today and get it back to me tomorrow so I can ride my Dyna this weekend.
Of course it is supposed to rain (yes I am a fair weather rider nowadays since I have a car) the next few dyas so we will see what happens. All I know is this is taking way too long for someone as impatient as myself. I moved along at a pretty good clip for the first few months but now I am a tortoise. But we all know the tortoise is slow, but he always wins.

Hmmm, I spoke to Race Tech and they told me they are fairly straight forward as far as rebuilding goes? Honestly I just think most "Harley" shops dont know much about real suspension if its not bolt on stuff that reduces functionality of the bike.

What was the Race Tech Pt# on the spring box?
I sent the spring box to Conely's. I agree that Harley shops do not know what to do with real cartridge suspension as they rarely if ever deal with it.
We'll see how long it takes to get my forks back as I know John was busy with other issues besides the shop today. Regardless, this whole thing just makes me laugh.
I am happy to say that my forks with the Race Tech springs and gold valves are assembled and on the way back to me finally. This is the only pic I have which was texted to me.
Hopefully they will be back tomorrow and everything can get assembled although it is supposed to be raining for the next few days regardless. so I am getting closer to the end. The good thing is I know that they were assembled properly this time so the forks will go back together without a doubt.
My cartridges with the new springs and gold valves will finally be here today and its raining all weekend of course. Maybe we'll avhe a chance to get the bike back together, I'm not sure.
