WTG, DesertDyna! Thanks for the link! This is exactly what I am looking for, a loud horn that will fit under the cowbell! I spent hours searching this forum using the forum search and google and I did not find this one.
Horn is on order and I will let ya'll know when I get it in and installed.
Glad you found one that works for ya! Post a vid when its up.
I really like the Wolo idea but when I looked over my '01 SG, I could not find any place that I was sure I could mount the compressor. The area under the seat is pretty stuffed with wiring and I do not want to put it where it would be visible. Since I live in hot and humid Houston with its reputation for killer traffic, I also do not want to mount anything that might alter the airflow around the engine like behind the rear cylinder.
The Freeway Blaster was cheap, less than $17 shipped, so I am willing to take a gamble with it. If it is not any louder than the OEM horn, then it is not that big a deal as far as cost and time to mount it goes. The Wolo is twice the cost and then there is the time to modify and mount it and the compressor (if I could find a hide away place). I read all of the post on the Freeway Blaster and those who posted that they are using one were posting overwhelmingly positive comments. You folks really know your stuff and I know I can come here and get good advice and info...and an excuse to spend more $$ on my ride.
I installed the Freeway Blaster this weekend. Very simple remove and replace installation. The horn is the same size as the factory horn so it fits under the cowbell just fine. It is louder than the original horn but nothing to brag about. I was hoping for a little more.
It looks like I will have to get one of the Wolo air horns and modify it and find someplace to mount the compressor if I want a louder horn that fits under the cowbell...
