I switched stock 2 into 1 exhaust for a stock head double pipe on my 12 FLD.
I also put screaming eagle mufflers on.
Only trouble is the mufflers don't clamp tight to the head pipes and I blew them off the damn bike a while back.
I put them back on and tightened the hell out of the claps n now here a few months later the mufflers are loose as **** again!
Any suggestions for a fix over the winter here to correct my issue?
You need to adapt some braces to secure it better.
My stock exhaust had three clmaping areas .
Utilizing some stock braces.
I'm saving all my stock irems but you can find them on Ebay for a song.
Head pipe clamps are not meant to be the only point of attachment, there should be a bracket that attaches to and secures the muffler, On your FLD the bracket attaches to the Transmission, then the muffler so the muffler can not slide back off the head pipe. Sounds like you are missing that bracket.
Right the factory setup had a muffler bracket for the SINGLE muffler that atached to the tranny!
Im working with a two into two pipe tho!
The header pipes are secure all the way back but there is nothing holding up the mufflers except the clamps.

You need to fab up a bracket or go to the muffler manufacturer site to see what they have available. If your mufflers were made to replace OEM ones...they usually re-use a stock type bracket...or provide one.
I had the same problem. Make sure the mufflers are all the way up on the header. They go on the header farther than most mufflers do. Least wise mine does. It would not tighten either.
After I did that it solved my problem.
Talked to my local Harley Guru n I'm going to shim where the muff clamps on.
The clamp is bottoming out n not putting enuf pressure in the head pipe to secure it proper. Try that fix n see what happens.
Thanks yall for the advice n ill keep ya informed what's the turnout.
