Dropped by GMR today and got my Dyno scheduled for Nov 12th. I know Steve likes to use the standard HD flared type exhaust gaskets, but I wanted to make sure whether to use those or the D&D provided ones and he said the flared style. So off I went to HD and bought 2 sets of them, $7 each - ouch!
Got to go on a 4 day trip tomorrow, so will change the pipes out sometime towards the end of next week.
Also, Steve cranked up his 124" bike for me to listen to.....
Definitely use the D&D gaskets, I tried the stock Harley gaskets and that did not work out well.
The tapered gasket does not provide the contact area that the flat gaskets do.
I think D&D recommends doubling up the flat SE gaskets in some cases too. Look at the flange on the header. If it's flat use flat gaskets if it tapers like oem use the tapered.

I know that Bassani(Kurt) told me to use flat SE ones but Steve pulled one out and put a tapered in. Here is a pic of the D&D gasket and flange area:
So D&D supplies the cometics ( the gasket in your pic) ? They're great. I've even took my Fatcats on and off a number of times and not changed the cometics. Never a problem.
Alan I'm glad I never sold off my fatcat. It's back on and I have no reason for anything else. Absolutely like it better then my road rage II.
Be prepared they are loud. But the sound is addicting.

I do not know if the D&D supplied gaskets are Cometic, maybe soft 02 can tell us?
Steve(GMR) said the D&Ds would be loud too, but I think my 1D5250 Bassanis are pretty loud so we'll see...
Thanks for the vote of confidence on the Fat Cats, I am nervous - a fair amount of $$ to hopefully improve performance.
No need to be nervous about the performance of the Fatcat. I've compared against a couple pipes now. Fatcats rock!
Look forward to your impression of the pipe when you get it installed. BTW my fatcat is a pain to install compared to others. Very close fit. Just take your time...
