Engine Build Time
Man I have heard motors with & without head work and what a difference in sound when a bike had the heads done up. Enjoy the hell out of the beast!
.....got a bit over 550 miles on mine and can't wait to dyno it.

The dyno tune really makes the power on and off feel smooth, I just plugged up my O2 ports - not even gonna try an Autotune.
Just got my Trick Shift Synthetic ATF today, new frictions and steels should be in pretty soon.
Installed the Alto Carbonite clutch plates, Baker manual primary chain adjuster, and the Trick Shift Synthetic ATF. Clutch seems to be holding fine but something in this change has made finding Neutral harder when at a stop.
Did a Compression check not long after the build was complete and came up with ~ 185 psi for front and back. It was good that there was hardly any difference between front and back but the total psi was about 10 psi short of my target. After running a thread about compression checks over at the HTT Forum I learned a lot more about how to do a compression check:
1) Run the engine for a couple of minutes just to make sure all the oil in the engine is properly distributed.
2) Make sure your battery is 100 percent charged up - a standard HD tender is inadequate. I bought a $50 Deltran 1.25 Amp Battery Charger/Tender and a Digital Multimeter to run a load test to insure the battery was OK.
3) Having some miles on the build and broken in etc, could help the check.
So anyway I redid the Compression Check and came up with ~ 195 psi just as I had planned using my info and the Big Boyz Compression Calculator.
If you have followed this thread you will recall that I was a bit disappointed with the Dyno results. Not so much the max #s of 104hp and 112tq but the torque dip from about 2300 to 2800 rpms. Well I and Steve(GMR) felt that the shorter Bassanis were probably the problem. Well I had spent enough $$ at the time so did not feel like buying new pipes right away but now I am ready and hope I have the best choice for my build/tastes:
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Road over to Reno last month and had an awesome time on the first long ride. My brother rides a stage one 103, when we stopped for fuel we would literally use the same amount of fuel. 40 MPG
