I'd ship the whole case to DH as djl suggested.

I will pull the case(75% there already) and take it to him and he will split the case for me, ship it to Darkhorse(most likely) and then reassemble the case with Timken on the left and a new bearing on the right too(can't remember what kind - maybe y'all can help?).

Anyway looks like I will have more work ahead and more $$ into the build but should be interesting and a solid build.

Sorry djl, no 117", got to draw the line somewhere, in my books that would be at least another grand and I have planned my cams/throttle body/etc for a strong 107" and that is where I am heading.

Thanks for everybody's input on the crank decision - I was "split" over it but looks like crank repair is coming

Soft 02 - watch over me pulling that case, probably wont happen until next week. I have to work to pay the bills Thurs - Sun.
I agree with dji, send the whole bottom end in. Mine is there now. Crank true, weld, plug and ballance. Plus H beam rods and timken conversion with blue print reassymble.

And, I agree with you on having to stop spending money some where. I stopped at 107, figureing if I went to 117 I would need a larger TB new cylinders and possibly a switch to chain drive if you atart tearing up belts

Yall are killing me on the 117"! I would have to make a lot of fast calls: Dont bore my cylinderss, don't order the AV&V springs I wanted, hold off on our compression plans, and I would have to see what Tman could do to swap the cams out. No, I think it is just too much to sort through and I probably would need a better clutch too - no?

Ok, I know I should talk to Darkhorse, but how do you ship a case? It has to be something pretty stout like wood and most of the carriers I know would probably tumble the box upside down a couple of times

My Indy said he could split the case, install the 2 bearings(cost of Timken included), provide and package the crank(I pay shipping), then once it comes back install the crank and put the case back together for $500.

Alan. Make a wood crate. Did you see the one I made in my crank thread. Some 5/8 plywood and a saw.

I built a wooden crate for mine, bolted the bottom end to the motor stand and bolted the stand in the crate.

I would have to go back and look(I saved your thread), I do remember some wood strips at the bottom for the flywheels but that is all I remember.

If y'all have not figured it out by now, I am very good with instructions but maybe not so good at improvising(engineering type!), if there are instructions anywhere on how to ship a case then I could make it happen.

Is the $500 so bad? Or is it that Darkhorse is so great at sealing a case or what?

When you ad the timken kit and the machining and the labor and set up I'd feel comfortable with what DH charges. In the end you will have no worries with your bottom end. As far as making a crate I'm the improvisational type. Once you make the crate find a cardboard box to put it in and pad the inside.

DH charged me $200 to take apart and put together my bottom end. Well worth the money!

I got dibs on you T-Body of you end up changing your setup.
