Thanks for the pics HD Bobber! I was wondering a bit about that 1/2" spacer, D&D Instructions make you think that the spacer is for shimming the muffler up or down - kinda confusing, but it looks like it belongs under the top left hole of the muffler bracket.
I guess D&D does not use a retaining ring for the exhaust flange? I guess those flanges are there to stay, tough to replace...
Does anybody have any tips on like which cylinder to try to line up first or whether a certain tilt makes it go on better. I have heard more than once that fitting D&Ds onto the cylinders can be a bitch, so I am all ears. One poster said to take all the heat shields off, but Steve(GMR) said not needed....
Also D&D has an torque # of 150 in-lbs for the muffler clamp, but there are 2 clamps, one much smaller than the other. Did you use 150 in-lbs for both?
Thanks, again for all the inputs - pretty sure I am going with the D&D suppled exhaust gaskets - the flared ones look like they would get crushed down in a messy way.
I didn't have to take the heat shields off my Bobcat for install, close tolerance slipping them in place on the cylinders.
The directions said to use SE gaskets so I had them on hand for install but then they came with the fuller size gaskets, I used the SE ones and it went perfectly, no problems ever since install so I still have the ones that came with the pipe on-hand.
The front pipe shield touches the cam cover ever so much and I would have gave it an ever-so-slight rap with a velvet-gloved mallet where it does touch if I had noticed it before I cinched everything down. Once I got it all tight I wasn't (and haven't) going to back track.
I'll probably give it a tap whenever I put in cams.
Might want to give that spot a keen eyeball before you cinch yours up for good.
i wanted to use the fat cat of my 14 lowrider. When i installed it, it was in contact with the rear brake arm. It might have fit if i adjusted the brake arm way, way down but i did not want to have to reach for the brake on a new cherry machine. Of coarse the 14 lowrider has the redesigned mids (which to me are in the perfect spot)
so for now it is stock exhaust with the se nightstick slip on
btw, i bought the pipe from fuel moto and they were super cool about the return and sent me a new map for the power vision tuner too

Congrats on the new bike! Still have your 06 that you put all that work on??
Sorry to hear about the Fat Cat not working on your Lowrider, maybe D&D has not tried fitting one yet on it yet since it is a new model. Just like about everything, the Dynas always take a back seat to the baggers.
Hoping to get a little work done today, just got back from a 4 day trip but tomorrow going to Austin for couple days so my wrenching will be pretty limited until Monday.
i traded in the 06, dealership gave me an ok trade that i was happy with (that is to say I was not mad about)
i just sort fell in love with the new low rider, my first hd was an 87 low rider and it looks so much like it. same paint and pin stripe, lettering and everything
Got a question for anybody that has installed Fat Cats before:
While installing the header piece, I got the 2 flanges over the cylinder studs and hand tightened the 4 exhaust nuts but it seemed like the headers were not sliding into the cylinder exhaust ports very far. So I just thought that they would slide in all the way once I started to tighten down the exhaust nuts, but I just felt like the torque pressure was getting too high for not having the headers fully seated.
Anybody else have this issue? I know that nothing was cross threaded. Here is a pic of where the front header was when the torque seemed too high to continue:
