At worst l'm still getting at least 47 - 48 mpg. Just slightly better than l was getting from my 07 FXD.

But, as the HD Website states 43 MPG combined and we all know manufacturer figures are optimum conditions I would say the 37mpg you are getting is representative.

On mine I have averaged as stated before to 47.54MPG Imperial Gallon or 39.59MPG US Gallon.

I'm happy with my gas mileage as I don't ever expect to get factory condition economy.

Is that Imperial or US Gallon? I'm guessing Imperial which is similar to my 47.54MPG Imperial Gallon average which is 39.59MPG US Gallon.

I know Australian's don't generally use gallons as like us Brits you use litres. But as a US gallon is smaller than other gallons it needs clarifying. 1 US gallon = about 3.8L while an imperial gallon = 4.55 L which does create some confusion when we talk about MPG.

Best I've done is 46 US mpg that was riding 2 up with my girl on back roads following my parents so I was being very gentle. Normally I avg low 40s high 30s. That's ok by me I ride my bike hard, and my truck does 14.7 mpg so the bike is a nice break from that lol

I will use my LR to commute to work. I only have about 5-6 stop signs or traffic lights to hit before I get out of town. Most of my ride to work is open county roads with little to no traffic control devices. As long as I am not always on the throttle, I would expect MPG to be in the 40s.

To those who have put apes on their LR, where did you get your cables and brake lines from? I have temporarily put a set of 10" bars on the stock riser setup until I make up my mind and figure out what set of 16" I want. I want to go ahead and order cables and lines and run them now so all I have to do is switch bars and risers in the future. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

No. l did the conversion and it's US mpg. l usually work in k's per litre and l'm usually getting around 19 - 20 KPL.

My take as well. I get at least twice the MPG from my motorcycles as I have from my cars.

But they go thru tires at least twice as fast. Also, if you want to use them for more than trips to Starbucks on sunny summer days, riding gear enters into the equation. Car's shafts last far longer than bike's belts. Car's don't generally snap clutch cables or require 3 separate oil changes every few thousand miles.

Whatever savings results from the better fuel efficiency of bikes is quickly offset by other costs. Contrary to popular belief, saving money is not a good reason to own a bike.

OTOH, you could lower your grocery bill if you supplement your diet with bugs.
