Default Lose Speedo/Odometer with throttle

New rider of 2 weeks... starting with a 99 FXDWG. Whether on the road or kickstand, engaging the throttle kills the speedometer and odometer and turns on the "engine" light. When coasting or idling all returns to normal. Any thoughts??? Thanks, ddd

I believe your problem is your Voltage Regulator. When you increase throttle, your RPMs go up as does the voltage created by the stator. This will cause an over voltage and your speedo/tach will fail and the check engine light to illum. When you back off the throttle the guages should come back.

I've had this happen a couple of times on my WG.
