Hello. I'm checking out a friend's 2007 Ultra Classic as it is having a no start issue. He was out riding, and the idiot lights started to flicker at him. Then when he pushed the right turn signal, the signal flashed fast and then just stuck on. Once the bike was shut off it wouldn't start back up. At the same time the security light was flashing, also. No click, nothing. It powers up when you cycle the ignition, you can hear the fuel pump, but it does nothing. Can't make the turn signals work now, either. The fronts come on when you turn the ignition on, like normal, but they won't work otherwise. When you turn the ignition on, the dash lights work, but the LCD part in the speedo does not come on, nor do the idiot lights. And when the fob is away from the bike it does not arm itself. The security light does not flash now. And now the tach is also stuck at 1300 rpm. I can't do a diagnostic scan, as the LCD isn't working now. I What I'm wondering is can anyone lead me to a way to test the TSSM and the ECM? Or should I be looking somewhere else, maybe? Thank you for your help.
I think the first thing I would try is to disconnect the battery or pull the main fuse for a few minutes then reconnect and see it that doesn't reset everything
Battery in the bike is 12.7, in the fob is 3.02, so they're both good.
I'm thinking the ECM took a dump, but I don't know how to test it.
For some reason I'm not getting email notifications.
Start with the easy things first. Make sure the Battery cables are clean, on the battery and at the starter and transmission ground.
Hook your volt meter to the Battery and press the start button see if the voltage changes. Sometimes a battery will show 12.7 but when you hit the start button it drop below 9.
Here is a link to a recent thread that I posted some schematics that may work for you. Check to see if you have power at the Ignition fuse and go from there.
