Hones...
240 grit is fine but the guy did it way too long. 320 would be better but dingleberry hones don't do that good of a job on cast iron liners.. the 240s work OK on Nikasil cylinders but you are really not trying to do much more then scratch them.. I've used 320s on 2 strokes after boring (honed to size with a good fixed).
If you look at the end of the post, there is still a carbon ridge at the top of the cylinder.. For std cast iron sleeves (ductile or whatever), it's better to use a fixed position hone like Sunnen, Goodson or Lysle. Make the cylinder round again, take out a little taper and take out the ridge.. Piston might rattle a little tho rings will seal well.
these are new, bored to size cylinders, right? if they where honed properly, just clean, check ring gap & install.no need to ball hone. (we use 280 on our sunnen honing machine)
Not to hijack your thread but I pulled my pistons and my cylinders look great. I going to get them honed. A top compression ring was stuck in the groove though. After I clean up the piston, the new same size rings would work correct?

Embarrassingly, I missed that.. What is more important is getting the cylinders clean before assembly.. The video doesn't show that..

I'd get the cylinders and pistons to an automotive / motorcycle machinist. Have him look at it.. Rings typically don't stick in grooves.

Yes, new cylinders. Glad you clarified that as I did see another video where they did exactly that. Moder often than not these videos don't provide enough explanation or reflect contrasting philosophies.
