Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
Replaced lifters, pushrods on a 127 a while ago because of a bent pushrod in the rear cylinder.
Cam looked good no issues there. After setting the lifters three times with a cold motor, everything was fine except for a knock that is rpm sensitive in the front cylinder.
As the motor warms up it lessons quite a lot but never completely leaves.
Compression is good in both jugs but, I can't get rid of it. I run a Mik and know what a flat slide sounds like on an EVO, this is different.
Well, I'll be the first to say you'll need to post a video with sound so we can make a guess. Right now I'm guessless.
Why do you think the PR was bent?
I'll play...an evo based Ultima El bruto. But thats the 64000 dollar question...why did it bend O.P.? Was the bent pushrod in the front where the noise is now coming from?
OK, here's the info.
The knock is in the front / exhaust when I put a stethoscope on her.
Valve is not bent and functions well / no oil entering into cylinder or down valve stem.
Compression is good in both jugs.
Pushrod that was bent and bend is not visual unless you roll it on flat surface.
That pushrod came from the rear cylinder.
I changes out all pushrods (OEM to smith Bros) and changed out all lifters.
Doesn't sound like normal Mikuni slide slap.
No exhaust leaks found nor intake leaks.
Motor has been rock solid for years with 20k on this motor.

Max is that you?
