Download the instructions. My understanding for my bike the tappets do need to be removed for regular. Not crazy about S&S instructions they have every year in there and you have to sift through. Also pisses me off they don't print instructions anymore.
I installed the complete S&S kit when I replaced the cam chain tensioners.Yep, just remove the tappet blocks. You'll have to install the T blocks and pushrods at the same time if you use the kit I did. Kind of a handful but very doable.I used the regular adjustables rather than the quickees because they look a lot more robust. Follow the instructions to the letter and you'll be fine.
