You gonna shoot 'em with some clear or something to protect them so you wont have to do it again soon?

I don't know.. I haven't thought that far ahead yet. My sheet metal is at a paint shop so I could drop these off to get hit with clear. I see there are chemicals that can be rubbed on to prevent oxidation. One of the polishing videos I watched said to wipe them down with ethanol. I'm open to suggestions.

Wide angle view makes for a funny looking short bike!

I'm slightly heaver than back in the day when I actually put miles on the bike but I still had to pull myself back into position whenever I got on the throttle. There is almost no rise to the back of the solo seat. I searched for quite some time. The lack of full bike pictures with seats made it difficult to make a decision. Everything I looked into seemed to just be a close up of just the seat. Very hard to tell what it would look like on the bike. I kept coming going back to LePera and that's what I settled on. I was told 3 months out when I ordered. I was pumped when I got a shipping notification earlier than expected. It was going to be a slightly late Christmas present arriving on the 27th. I continually checked the shipping status like I do with anything I'm excited to receive. I panicked when tracking showed delivered but the seat wasn't here. That's when I realized the shipping address was wrong.. Seat went to residential address in another state! Pull up my order and the shipping address is wrong. How could I have missed this! Called LePera and they're closed until the 3rd for x-mas and new year. At this point I'm getting pretty worked up. No idea what to do. My sister works in the office with me and suggest I call the location it was shipped to. How I say.. It's a residence not a business. Public records she says.. After a few min on the internet she comes up with a building permit that had some phone numbers on it. Permit issued to a gentleman with the same name as me. Starting to make sense. Info for an existing customer with the same name got auto entered on my order. Permit is 7 years old so I had no idea if the numbers were good. On top of that how do I explain to this person how I got their number. Took a few deep breaths and made the call. A lady answers and I ask if I can speak to XX. "Sure who's calling". Your not going to believe this but I'm XX as well. She laughs.. "Are you looking for a motorcycle seat?" I haven't felt that level of relief in quite some time! They had already contacted LePera to let them know they had it. We talked bikes for a bit and he even sent me a picture of my package safe and sound on the guest bed! Once LePera was back the seat got shipped one more time to me. I'm so grateful the pit stop was at an honest home. Could have played out much different.

Got some new tires. Should be getting the tin back from paint in a week or two. I still have a few more things to wrap up but it should be coming together here over the next month or so.

Man that's a cool story. Good work with the online detective work, thankfully the people who had the seat were good folks. I would send them a gift card to a restaurant or something to thank them.

Good to hear you found the seat. Better to hear that there are still honest people around. I'm sure they would appreciate a small gift if you can swing it. Thanks for documenting this rebirth.

I knew after our first conversation a monetary thank you was in order. We texted back and forth sharing a few pictures of our bikes. I told him the bike the seat was destined for was something special to me. Promised him the backstory but it was too long to text so I sent a letter, some pictures, a big thank you, and a visa gift card!

Finally got my tanks and fenders back from paint. Contemplated doing something a little different but ended up back in black. Getting real close to getting her back on the road!
