I got the tanks on and fired her up. Puked a bunch of oil out of the breather (?) tube. About 20 ounces. It did this once before after sitting for a long period without running. I thought I saw something on here about this condition but I can't find it and I'm not sure what to search for. Is this typical when it has sat for some time? Is there anything I need to do beyond topping off the oil?

It does happen but 20 oz is a lot.. At this point you can try to clean and reset the check valve ball.. #7 in the diagram or you can replace the oil pump.. S&S are good..

The first time it probably dumped around 8 ounces if I had to guess. I can't remember how long it had sat that time but it was a while. After that I tried to start it and run around rhe block at least once a month. It didn't do it again until today but it hasn't been started in about 9 months. I was expecting to see some oil but not that much. I'll try cleaning and resetting the ball. Hopefully that does it. Thanks again.

Put it together take it apart put it together take it apart. Seems to be how I do everything. Wiring the taillight and I've got no brake light. Have power going to the accessory breaker but no power to the rear brake switch. Thought I had everything all squared away but apparently not. Looks like I'm pulling the tanks to trace power. Glad I put the quick disconnect between the tanks.

There was no love last night. I was pissed off, frustrated, and sad. I was contemplating stupid options like moving forward and figuring it out later. I walked away defeated but I know it's better that I just walked away. I'll have time this weekend to sort it out and move on.

Located my oil pump! Discovered I already have an S&S. Check, clean, or replace ball and springs is on the list. I changed the oil last time it did this but don't remember how much oil I added. Even though I probably only have 23 miles on the oil I'll likely change it again just to cross off overfill as an issue. I didn't know what to search for... apparently a search of "Evo puking oil" provides for a lot a reading!

I'm 100% out of my comfort zone but I'm learning. I've been reading a lot of other threads and I extremely grateful for the amount of knowledge that's accessible here. Hope to have some pictures outside of my garage/driveway in the near future but in the meantime here's one of pops somewhere in CO. I'm not sure when he had it painted but I'm guessing this is late 80's early 90's

I was thinking about your clutch basket and the new clutch hub.. is there a chance that the hub was not pressed in all the way? Did you call Rivera Primo and ask if the stock adjuster screw would work or if you need to get a different one.? I know when I went to a Baker 6 speed trans I had to get a 1/2" longer adjuster screw.. Barnett has them..

I think you have the wrong thread. I haven't messed with the clutch yet.

I've located my mistake in the brake light wiring but I'm still unable to get a brake light. I now have power into the rear brake switch but no power out when I push the pedal. Does the bike have to be running for the rear switch to operate? Tanks are currently off. No front brake light either but that switch was flimsy going in and may have a loose connection. I'd like to get the rear going so I can continue putting it together and deal with the front later. Taillight is new and brake light functions when I run power direct to the light.

Edit.. if it matters both calipers are off an master cylinders are empty.
