Yeah, I didn't show the process.. You drop the cam in the fixture to get an idea where the cam timing is. There are a set of marks on the side of the fixture.. Zoom in and you can see them. You then remove the cam, press the gear off, adjust the fixture to a new position and press the gear back on..
Why did you decide on 3 degrees? It’s all fun and games until you wanna run a zippers cam lol.. welded gear drove me nuts. Almost always off and getting them to send you one without welding it was like asking for a miracle
I would imagine that with the manufactures listed lift at tdc which for the S&S 640 would be .228"@tdc.. but that's just my guess as I've never degreed a cam before..
Evos have a timing plug for TDC front. The cam checker has 2 pins, one for front, the other for rear cylinder.. I did check the timing mark on the flywheel when I had the cylinders / pistons on to check piston deck and it's spot on..

Well originally when the motor was first built 1999, the CR was set to 10.8. It cam with a SnS 631 cam. I want to try a different cam and SnS has just come out with the 640 for their 124. I figured the 640 would give me a little more midrange tq epically if advanced it a little. It did. I was hoping for more HP also but it made exactly the same peek, running AR 100s. (114 hp) I eventually found the right exhaust pipe and the bike made 124 hp..
