just found i have a draw on my battery 1984 flhtc w/just over 10,000 miles things ive checked
fuzes
starter
starter silonid
volt reg
running out of things to check ,any ideas would be of grate help
I once had a 1984 FXRT and a similar draw you are describing. Sometimes, the battery would be completely dead. However, mine would sometimes not start back up after ridden. Sometimes, it would start and sometimes it would not.
I checked everything I could possibly think of, followed the service manual, and even took the bike to two different dealerships. One dealership said they fixed it....I went down there to pick it up....and the damn thing would not start.
Another dealership found the grounding strap to be at fault. The grounding strap was missing the bolt that attached it to the frame. When the strap was touching....there was no problem.
Pull one of you're batt. cables and put you're meter in between the cable and the batt. terminal. Then start pulling you're fuse's one at a time and keep an eye on the meter when you hit the right one you'll see it on the meter. That way at lest you'll know which circuit to check out.
did that only found one fuse on the left under the side cover seames to go to the starter and silanoise (sorry for bad spelling) that stoped the pull, next i unhocked stater and silanoise , still pulling, there is only one fuse cant find any others, anyone have a wiring diagram that they can post
would be helpfull ,thanks.

there should be 2 sets. The one light gauge one that plugs in to the solenoid and the thick one that goes to the starter. You might be better trcing it back from the stater to find out where it goes to. first tho as you dont want it touching anything whislt its still live !!!!
