Hi,Ive just bought a new Holley Screamin Eagle Carb Set from eBay at a reasonable price. After buying it...I have read "the horror stories/comments" about tuning, performance, fuel guzzlin etc.. Anyway too late now! I hope to fit it to my 91 Ultra at some point this (or next) year, when the fuel prices collapse!! Ha.Ha .Ha. Any advice re. tuning would be great. I have ordered Holley Tuning Manual.
Question.2. I had the Fuel tank completely disconnected (91 Ultra) and stupidly disconnected the brass nut, bolt & round fibre isolator that holds the "gauge mechanism & float" inside the tank. Lo & behold...the bolt fell into the tank.
I have managed to put everything back together again, inc. wires in the right places, but I am not getting a reading on the Fuel Gauge. I wondered if maybe I have caused a short circuit and blown a fuse or circuit breaker. Can anyone advise where the fuse/circuit breaker is for the Fuel gauge on my bike.?
many thanks in anticipation,Doug.(Scotland,UK)
Bungo, I can't help with your problem, but welcome, I just bought a CV carb from a friend of a friend and it was $70 US. Re sell yours and see if a CV carb will work on your bike.
Thanks for advice phat.I already have the original H.D. carb on the bike but you know whats its like..you see a nice "shiny thing" on eBay and its like a Magnet....before you can unloosen the Strait Jacket..youve bought it.
Anyway its a nice thing to look at and it will probably end up on the shelf with those other "had to have" goodies that are now obsolete. Doug.
Bungo, I know what you mean about buying and putting it on the shelf, I have two fairing and 2 sets of exhaust, a hypercharger etc, it dosen't end. Take care, see if grbrown can help you, he's on your side of the pond.
The Box says....27970-00(in marker ink). Im hoping the 00 doesnt mean for 2000 Harleys. There are other numbers on the carb flange but until I get the Holley Book Im not sure.It is "screamin eagle" though.

Bill,
The -00 means the part/kit was introduced in 2000, but don't be put off. Part of the fun of Harley ownership is proving that parts can be retro-fitted. I have just fitted a set of fog-lamps -98B to my 1990 evo, also have an -06 HID headlight, etc (both only supposed to fit back to 1996 bikes). You will probably find it includes parts for the cylinder head engine breathers of late evos, which our early evos do not have, but it will probably fit. I had no difficulties fitting mine.
Thanks grb.Totally agree....part of the fun of Harleys is,as you say,adding/taking away the bits & pieces. Thats why I got rid of the Yam TDM,its just a big lump of plastic & metal sitting there, without much character. You definitely "bond" with you Harley even if at times you curse it when things arent goin right and youre havin to fix somethin & spend ŁŁŁŁ$$$$$. I will have a go at fitting the Holley and post the results.I notice that it comes already jetted.I was wondering which model Harley it might be jetted to suit? I know you can buy a kit with extra jets etc., but at $80.US.
Im not wantin to rush iout and buy one without knowin if I need it. Bungo.
If it is in its original box it or the instructions should give a clue to the jetting. Mine came with a few alternative jets which were enough to get mine roughly right. You should find it will start and run as is, even be OK. Best of luck!
