Still at 70 miles by only filling the right side you should go further in my opinion. At highway speeds I can usually go 130 miles before needing to use reserve if I only fill the right side.
Test your fuel mileage and get back to us.I'm curious.

Does that mean you can go 260 miles before reserve when you fill both tanks?

Hell I can only get about 160 before reserve and that is with 5 gallon tanks and running 42 mpg.

About 210-230.Last trip was 900 miles there and back and I averaged just over 50mpg.
Most of the ride was at 70 mph.

Been that way since the Knucklehead came out in 1936.
Yep that.

It may have been 75 miles but when I was filling it up, I was only able to put 1.8 gallons in the tank. Thats about 42 mpg and I thought that should be about right. I filled both sides today and only was able to put 3.8 gallons in. Does that sound about right?

It does if you were on reserve. If you have stock tanks then they are 4.2 gallon capacity (you usually have about .8 of that in reserve).
