Once started no more problems the rest of the day.

HMMM. That could be it.....once started, It re-started just fine. After the clutch install (DAMIT) and compression check, Im going to try this.

If it works, where did you want me to send your Mickey D's coupons......

Is there something that could have been going out slowly and is finally toast?

I had a nice dream about riding last night......about 40 miles into the ride to the EVO party.............

DAMIT!
The possibility exists that it is something gone out but from my experience it is something you did during surgery. (I have done it way more than once)

Get a can of carb cleaner while you are getting the compression tester.

Did you put in new lifters? If so did you bleed them before trying to start Bertha?

When adjusting lifters to make sure you are on the heel of the cam you have to spin the back tire till the push rods start going up. Put a piece of tape on the lowest part of the wheel. Repeat in the other direction. Then move the wheel to the middle of the two pieces of tape.

Doing this will insure that you are on the heel of the cam.

Check the push rods to see if they are bent.

Ididn't kow I could use carb cleaner as starting fluid. I have some.

Nope, she already had the Velva Touch lifters.

Hmm. I rotated the wheel until I saw both lifter fall to their lowest position, and then adjusted the pushrods.

Doing this will insure that you are on the heel of the cam.

Check the push rods to see if they are bent. If they are....I'm gonna say something alot more nasty than DAMIT!
Back to the drawing board later tonight.

The A one is probably an upgrade or simply an updated number.

Call your local dealer to be sure.

Just take it slow brother.
Mistakes get more likely the more frustrated you get.

I have solved problems simply by walking away for a while and doing something else.

I hear ya man.
The coldest I have ridden in was 13 degrees but I was younger and dumber at the time.

Yes I really was dumber at one time in my life (hard to believe I know).

Hopefully Traildog it is something stupid. I had the same issue with mine. Was just something simple. I pray nothing is broken. Keep us posted. And good luck with the starter clutch.

I am lucky with my starter, had it rebuilt at Texas Alternator and Starter. Difference was a new starter clutch for cheap ($40) or rebuilt entire thing for ($100) vs new starter ($345ish). Might be an option for you as those are generally warrantied if you have someone close to your area that can do it.

Good luck and keep us posted!
