I bought my EVO powered 99 Softail Custom off ebay by just looking at the pictures. Had to drive 500 miles one way to get it. It only had 17,000 miles on it four years ago, and now has 38,000. It is a great ride and outside of a couple of minor things it has been trouble free. Just me, but I like EVO's way better than Twin Cams.
I have a 99 Heritage Softail Classic, inherited it from a Brother (Served in AF together) when he passed. I got it last October, had 88250 miles on it and had just gotten an upper engine rebuild. I have about 92000 on it now, or close to it, been riding the hell out of it. Awesome engine. Runs like a raped ape. I love the Evo. My other bike is my 07 Wide Glide. I love that one too. More power, but I am liking the carborated Evo. It is a great ride. A little cold blooded, but I just warm her up good before I get on her.
aaamax, if that's your scoot in sig pic, quick question: how big of a pain is it to install a seat like that? It is spring coiled, correct? Been look'n at some I'd like to buy for the future eve. Advertisements on most say "universal fit, moderate skill level required". How long would it take to remove if you wanted to interchange seats? Looks awesome by the way. What brand and any other hardware? Thanx
IMHO with low miles you'd have to be a master at breaking stuff to tear up the tranny. You may ask him to back it into a snow bank and go through the gears that way or not lol. EVO's are the best imho.

Thanks and I can recommend it highly for comfort. The 5" barrel springs give a little more smoothness and height. Took an evening only because the chinease seat holes didn't quite line up with the taiwanese bracket. But otherwise a simple bolt on swap. Can do a couple of spot welds if you feel needed, but I didn't.
The seat is just a regular Hd tractor seat with metal pan and leather from ebay $150 if I remember right. The bracket is a V-Twin Mnf. seat mount kit 31-4019. this for 84-'99 years. also about $150. I looked at a lot of different mountings and this was the best I found and maybe one of the cheapest.
When done it's three bolts to take off seat.
