Well leak s fixed and not leaking. But I have a starting issue now and it started last year. When I adusted the clutch and removed the primary cover. I also removed the starter when I replaced the oil reservoir with new lines.
The starter I put back and always had issues starting after. So now when I start it, it will now crank for a sec then bog like it disengages then re engages for a bit then stops again. It just sounds like a bad starter but could it be misadjusted.
How can I check to tell if ita adjusted properly?
Especially that small 8mm bolt that goes in the front of the starter?
Is it just a starter faulty?
Also I had a jump box on the bike to help the bike crank over. So it can't be the battery depleted.
well with the battery charged up and the jump box on it, it still dont start
Its 12.7+ on the batt and checked to the starter and it has the same voltage there.
But when I try to start it with or with out the jump box it will literally make my DVOM go from 12.7 to less than 5 volts instantly and my headlight will dim to nothing. Bike will not start at all and literally sounds like a truly dead battery. But I figure with the jump box it would start atleast.
I will try my jump box on my other bike since its also dead and see what happens there!
ANy other checks I can do?
Is there a way to check the starter for output draw.
LMFAO, well I charged up the battery and I knew it had to be the starter giving me issues. So I tore off the starter cable from the battery and cleaned it up real good and removed the solenoid cover. I took a pic of the brushes and found lots of dirt/debris/**** inside it. SO I sanded the brushes and cleaned everything in there with a blow gun.
PUt it back together and fired up the bike. STARTED right up like it was brand new.
Cover dont leak anymore and now I have a primary cover gasket leak that I have to chase. BUt its been leaking for years and I think its just a gasket.
But I will get some brushes to replace another day.
I test drove it and man did it feel good to ride again.
ITs been 7 months since i was on that badboy
Thanks to Andy and others.
Thanks andy. Ya it did well for a day then I lost clutch.
So I just adjusted again via primary housing and the cable.
My ? Is though do u guys fully depress your shift lever or only depress half way when shifting and or sitting in first at a light.
