I've PMd many people that had similar issues that stopped posting, some gave up, some resolved. The common thing was the front mount seemed like everyone replaced and some got ok results, others it was a little better, like it was masking the problem. My VT mount 100% works well, it absorbs a lot, but somethings wrong elsewhere. I realized in searching and reading that the guys on new bikes have comp issues, the ones that do describe having my problem almost as if they are riding my bike. I then looked in the to comp and pulled it twice, didn't find anything at all. Someone in this thread suggested i look into the spring pack, and I was already, but didn't know yet what i was looking for. Upon continued searching I ran into a guy online that had my problem on a 98, but with a built motor, his was at a different rpm, but identical. I think every engine will vary slightly based on compression, wear, mods, etc. So, here's what my thought on where the weak link is.
The comp spring cover will vary on every bike, the springs will never wear equally under two different conditions. Depending on shims used to align the chain, you will have more or less clearance between the spring pack and the sliding cam. Those with more shims will have a tighter spring pack. I can tell my pack bottoms hard on the shaft leaving no tension on the spring when fully torqued, there's no preload and it appears to be too loose even though my springs aren't sagging. I have read good reports of those adding more springs into the comp spring pack, but I don't have access to one to pull apart and that wouldn't resolve my clearance issue. The solution is to try the new BDL CS24A comp assembly, it just replaces everything and I don't have to try and shim or add spacers to close up and tighten the spring pack.
Will it work, not sure. Everyone says the comps aren't bad on these so I'm not overly optimistic, but I think I've done all the research I can and need to at least give it a try at this point. I reached out to BDL to see if they wanted to team up on this experiment as if it works there's a lot of guys out there ignoring this problem, if it doesn't well, I'm in the same place I'm at now scratching my head. I do want to double check the clutch hub bearing while it's apart again, maybe spanners can tell me the easiest way to inspect it without having it pressed out.

You previously stated you checked the splines and bearing I believe ?
Not saying it's your problem , but if the rivets are loose they can easily be fixed. I have peened/punched them with an air hammer before then spot tacked (welded) the gear side of the rivet.
Also have replaced them with grade 8 5/16" bolts and machined the heads/nuts down for clearance inside the basket/gear . I know in most eyes this isn't a proper fix , but is has held for 20-25k pretty hard miles with no noticable vibration.
