Need some help please. I pulled it apart and want to check the hub bearing. I took a short video showing the movement if I slide it all the way on there's less play but still can see some and halfway off it's a good wobble. I read both that there is always play and that there shouldn't be so I'm not sure. I can't spin the center I'll have to completely disassemble the clutch plates to rotate it I guess to see if it's smooth. I think it's fine but want to ask the experts. I don't want to spend a cent more than I have to at this point
98 should have still had the basket style clutch hub. Unless they started them in mid 98 IIRC the hub you have wasn't used until late 99 early 00. It is an improvement over the previous one so nothing to worry about. I seriously doubt you have a bad bearing , but it does appear to be somewhat loose on the splines.
Can you take a close up pic of the splines inside the hub?
Here's a pic of both. I can't see any wear on either. I think the 98 basket can be disassembled without the clutch tool. I don't know if it's worth taking it apart. I guess if the comp doesn't solve the problem it's all gotta come back apart and I could change the clutch bearing then. It's apart until Friday so I have time of needed

It can be disassembled without the tool, your splines are fine but it looks like your Inner Primary Race has walked out towards the clutch and that in itself will cause vibes because the rollers hang off the edge of the race slightly.
When I put the S&S inner race on my TC it reduced the vibes dramatically as mine had walked the other way..
Can you get an in-focus version of pic number 2 please?
Trying to look up the race that's on it and the numbers don't match. It's stamped INA USA but I can't locate it. It doesn't match the part numbers listed f067769. The 0 could be a c or o.
Also. Doesn't the clutch hub go flush to the race keeping it from walking outwards? I thought they could only walk in towards the seal?
