Correct, 92 and older had a different primary ratio and ran the 70 tooth rear pulley. Harley played with the ratios in later years (and dropped down to a 65 tooth rear pulley for a while) because of people complaining about vibrations at higher speeds. My 87 runs 3000 at 65 and around 3500 rpm at 78 mph. 93 had one of the shittiest ratios, it killed torque and power so much that even a 95" kit wouldn't show much improvement over the older stock 80".

Also. Doesn't the clutch hub go flush to the race keeping it from walking outwards? I thought they could only walk in towards the seal?

They can go both ways or it might have not been put on far enough. The outer edges of the rollers should only just miss the chamfered edge, I have a bearing and race here that I use to make sure other people's races are correctly positioned when I have the primary and clutch off to check for issues.

There isn't a lot of tolerance and if they walk towards you the inner primary seal often leaks.

Thanks for the info spanner.

I know it can be fitted , but I wasn't aware that hub was used pre twin cam.

Spanners, thanks for noticing the race. I ordered the all ***** upgrade which is a wider bearing and eliminates one of the clips.

I have a plan now. I'm going to install the bdl comp and test the vibrations, if resolved it's coming back off and I'll replace the ipb and reassemble.

If it's not fixed it's coming off and getting returned and I'll then replace the ipb and test. If resolved done if not I'll then replace the clutch hub bearing.

A little more work than just replacing everything but at this point I think it beneficial to know what is causing it and to help others that aren't as stubborn as I am to go through this hell!

Bearing in. Still waiting on the compensator. Bearing is all ***** kit 25-3102. Think I'm done with J&P. shouldn't take 9 days to get an order.

New IPB is a lot wider. Anyone any comments on the inner race? What would cause the scratch marks?

Also got the bdl comp last night and they sent the wrong size I need a 25 they sent a 24. Nice unit but doesn't work. I attempted a test for anyways, didn't resolve the vibration. Maybe it was the IPB after all?

That race has normal wear on it.

Was hoping you were going to say it was junk and it was going to be smooth as glass when I get it fired up. Oh well. My comp spring is loose but I can't see how to shim the springs any so I guess it's going back on loose

New one takes up a lot more room. I've read mixed reviews mostly good but seems like a wider bearing is a good thing
