That's how I got the races out. Took forever. I used propane torch and made no progress on the race stuck to the stem. I'll dremel that tomorrow. Was hoping to avoid it
What type of torch would do it or is it easier to just cut it. Would acetylene do it?
Bro, I just spent the last two hours reading the entire thread. The last posts concerning the neck bearings were really disheartening. Props for your determination.
As far as the engine vibes go, I'm with the 'ride it 'till it breaks' crowd.
Or the next time you take it apart, really take it apart and sell the pieces. You'll recoup more $$$ than selling the whole bike.

Thought about that, I could probably just sell the engine and replace it. Problem is I go out there angry and after a few minutes staring at it I'm not mad at it I really like the thing as much as a pain as its been. Of all the busted parts I've replaced the neck bearings scared me pretty good. I keep thinking that it was just a matter of time before they locked up or the piece of metal jammed. I had it on the jack and almost didn't take it apart. I think once I finish the neck bearings I've covered everything that's a safety issue, wish I'd checked them earlier but like I said they felt fine until I stripped the tire and tubes out. The only bearings left are the swingarm and I had it the back apart they felt fine too not loose at all.
Heat soaking as mentioned. Not enough concentrated heat at the bearing. Don't think you have hurt anything. If oxy/ act torch with a Small tip (to keep heat at the bearing) is not available. I'd guess start the cutting.
Will cut it tonight, I was going to borrow the torch but I don't know what it has on it. This is day three time to get it back together. It's been raining all week so it hasn't been a bad time to be apart
