I poseted this in the touring section, however I should have posted it here
Harley has come out with a new Screamin Eagle mufffler (65115-10) It indicates that it is for 2010 tourning bikes and it is 31/2" in dia. My question is will it fit my 2008 Ultra? I think the 08 is a 4" dia muffler. I am concerened about the mounting? Also does anyone have these and do you like them? I don't want anything to loud
I haven't heard the 65115-10 mufflers yet although the disc mufflers they also offer sound really good, acceptable at idle and really bark under acceleration , I was very impressed with them considering H-D hasn't offered a good sounding muffler in a few years now.
From the look of it and the part # it is the HD branded Supertrapp SE. That same p/n at Supertrapp fits 95-09. ST has a different p/n for 10's. Unusual that the HD price is $20 less than the ST price. You can probably get better discounts on the ST's though. ST also has a much bigger selection of endcaps. I have Kerkers on my Ultra, they use the same body and endcap, just a different core. The end caps can be a pain to get lined up so you can put the 3 screws in but it is nice to be able to change the look without buying a new set of mufflers.
I talked with the Screaming Eagle guy at the Harley display in Daytona yesterday. He said that the new 65115-10 are the same as the old 65115-98b which are the Supertrapp SE's. He said the reason that they got approved for the 2010 models is that the cat. converter in the head pipe tones them down enough to meet the noise requirement. I also stopped by the Supertrapp booth at Destination Daytona and they had a set of the Supertrapp SE with the part # for the 2010 model. The baffle is a 2" perf. pipe that is straight through. Just like the Kerker slip ons but without the reducer at the exit. They will probably sound pretty good on the 2010 with the cat.
I debated between the new SE street performance slip-ons and the Rush...
I want a louder pipe than stock, but not to loud / extreme... I was worried that the new SE streets would not be loud enough, so I went with the Rush with 2.5 in baffles - I really liked the sound of them online... hopefully these won't be too loud for my tastes - we shall see in about a week.
I purchased the Screamin Eagle muffflers (65115-10) and a set of piston end caps, does anyone have the torque value for the end cap screws? The end caps didn't come with any info on torque
