I've got mine on the front and the back I haven't crashed the bike yet to comment on protection but I personaly think crash bars look nice on all harleys be it a sportster, v-rod or touring bike. it's just personal preferance really some like them others don't you make the call it's your bike.

I put them on my 07 Softail Custom. I went with black powder coat so they wouldn't stand out as much. Lindy is the make with the shape of the Harley shield and built in foot rests.
