Definitely sounds like they are swapped. Sometimes with different pipes you can get into reversion/crosstalk issues, but that only happens at specific engine speeds and low loads. That isn't what's happening for you.

The O2 sensors are color coded. Check to make sure they are connected to the right cylinder:

Black connector = rear cylinder
White connector = front cylinder

OK, sorry to keep coming back, but I pulled out my service manual. Here is what I see:

The rear exhaust O2 sensor is the one on top of the two sensors just in front of the transmission. This is also the right side exhaust sensor. According to the manual the rear exhaust sensor connects to the BLACK connector under the right side cover.

The front exhaust O2 sensor is the one on the bottom of the two sensors just in front of the transmission. This is also the left side exhaust sensor. According to the manual the front exhaust sensor connects to the WHITE connector under the right side cover.

This in fact does seem opposite to how mine is connected. I am going to double check the connection. Good catch, Nick, if this is the case. One thing I wonder about, though, is that even if my O2 sensors are crossed, why does my Fuel Moto map run pretty well?

Well, triple checked and my O2 sensors are definitely crossed. So I'll retract my disappointment in the PV until I get this straightened out and re-tune. Add another one to dealer screw-ups, as they are the ones that installed the FM exhaust. How anyone could trust them to do big bore/cam change is beyond me. I know ripping on the dealers is in style, but this isn't the first bonehead mistake they've made with me. Amazing.

It would've started out running great, then eventually after it attempts to chase the incorrect readings it will run progressively worse, like what you're seeing. If you are somebody who varies the throttle a bunch it likely had very minimal chance to learn the incorrect values the sensors were reading.

Thanks, Nick. This forum is great.

Could any long-term engine damage occur as a result of the switched o2 sensors?

I did some datalogging on my Sporty today and everything went great. I did forget to end my log before I shut the bike off, so I hope that didn't mess anything up.

I used the map that FuelMoto sent me unaltered for datalogging/logtuning and got a lot of good data. All of my VE delta values were just above or just below 1% so the map seems to be spot-on in the areas where I got hits.

The only thing that concerned me was my Engine Temps. I had many values in the 300 F + range with the highest value at 399 F when I was stopped at a stoplight. The outside temp was 108F here this afternoon with pretty high humidity. I could see on the log where the EITMS was kicking in richening up the AFR and dropping the Idle speed. I run full synthetic oil. I guess the bike can only do so much to cool itself down. I can only imagine what my engine temps were when I was runnung the H-D Stage 1 Download which was an even leaner map overall than the one FM sent me.

I wish everyone would stop bashing dealers. Bash the tech who screwed your bike up. Bash the the service manager who doesn't have the guts to fire the incompetent fool. Bash the dealer general manager who won't listen to your issue and resolve it so both parties are satisfied. Otherwise it is like bashing hdforums because one of the members posted profanity, talked about rice burners, or cut down another member. I have worked with techs who should have been chased out the door in 30 minutes after the !st day on the job. How many techs are in the "motorcycle mechanic school" because they are getting grants after rehab or whatever. I knew a guy who graduated from every program that MMI offered from bikes to boats and still wasn't worth a s..t as a tech. Sorry I'll stop now.

I am still doing data runs on my 2011 Ultra. Have about 30 tuning adjustments so far and it still keeps changing the ve tables. AT_100 single module fixed my data logging issues. the latest tuning version says my logs are missing the set lambda table??

Sorry, but I'll bash all I want. The dealers create a culture, and it seems all too common. My dealer has always corrected mistakes in the past (stripped primary drain plug, broken exhaust stud, this latest mistake, etc.), but they are way overworked and have been forced to sacrifice quality for quantity. OTOH, my local indy, which I always go to when it's not a warranty issue or a general maintenance item that I take care of, NEVER screws up. And it is not like bashing HDFORUMS because of some bad apples. HDFORUMS has created a great culture of info sharing, but there are always jerks ready to take advantage. There are good dealers out there; not enough and not where I live. "Now back to your regularly scheduled programming, already in progress."

Just got back from dealer and o2 sensor issue has been fixed. Probably won't have a chance to get back out and try to tune again until this weekend, but I'll post results when I do. Thanks again, Nick.
