Power Vision Information Thread
This system replaced a FuelPak that I had been running. I'm pretty much stage 1; V&H double barrel w/quiet series baffles and a S/E filter. Overall, it seems to be running pretty good. Although, my head temps seem to be somewhat higher than what you guys are posting. Saturday, it was hi 70s - low 80s around here along the beach. In town with traffic, I would occasionally see a little over 300. Once I got moving and cruising, it would drop back down to around 270. My oil temp was staying around 235-250, thats being read via the dipstick analog gauge, which is fairly accurate, I checked it with boiling water and its spot on.
I think its running a little hotter than with the FuelPak, I know the FuelPak was definitely running richer at idle, you could smell it. What I havent tried yet is going back to the stock tune to see what kind of temps I get with it. Im not running an oil cooler as of yet. The engine is still pretty tight, only has 1500 miles on it, Im sure that must be contributing something, how much Im not sure though. But it sure seems like you guys are running at much lower temperatures than I am. Could it be all oil cooler related?
Accel Enrichment: I originally set each value at -10%, but I was getting a sporadic hesitation at very light throttle input while cruising. I'm thinking the reduction in fuel along with the lean AFR's I'm running at cruise was leaning it too much, as this setting works like an accelerator pump on a carb.
Decel Enleanment: Originally set for +20% (higher is leaner), I later bumped it down to +10% after sometimes hearing a brief pop after releasing the throttle. The second adjustment didn't get rid of it, but putting it back to stock did.
I was playing with these values in an attempt to improve city gas mileage, but I don't think any of the changes have made much difference. I do notice that reducing the warm-up enrichment 30% has reduced the gas smell after first cranking the bike, as the original setting was very rich. When I had the PCV-AT installed AFRs were showing 11-12:1 during the cold warm-up cycle, which only lasts 20-30 sec. but is still dumping fuel unnecessarily. I've had no adverse effects from leaning it this much and may try going to 40% and see what happens.
I reduced the IAC steps and do like the fact that the bike doesn't rev-up as much when first started. You must do this carefully, as going too far can cause a conflict between this and the set idle speed. I cut mine quite a bit and haven't had any trouble. I also reduced the warm set idle speed from 967 to 950 rpm, and although it doesn't sound like much of a difference it does seem to idle smoother.

I did have the bike serviced right at 1K and had them put synthetic in all 3 holes. I did notice a difference immediately in the way it shifted with synthetic, way smoother. Im sure the motor is still pretty tight at 1500 miles.
I will probably put an oil cooler on it although I have been hesitant to do so, I live a block in from the coast and most days it never gets much above 70, last Saturday was an exception. I think running oil temps below 210 are not good, especially coastal where condensation is apt to be much higher on cool downs. HDs oil cooler is thermostatically controlled at 185* not sure why they have it set so low.
As far as the PV goes, the performance is noticeable right off the bat. I think the FuelPak was running too rich at an idle. When the motor was warmed up, it always felt like it was somewhat of a struggle taking off from a stop. You could smell the richness in the exhaust and my mileage never got into the 40s. Now its quite responsive, totally different taking off now. It also has much more pull in the lower 2K rpm range under light acceleration. Before, I would always downshift first before accelerating if I was around 2200 or so, mainly because it felt like it was really lugging. Now under light acceleration, the motor smoothly pops right up to over 3000 with little effort.
As I get to learn this PV and start playing with it, I can see where this can become addictive.
Thanks again.
I'm thoroughly impressed with this product at this point. And I realize that it's still in its infancy at this time, but I hope there is some more comprehensive documentation in the works.
Its fairly intuitive to navigate through the screen hierarchy and the software is pretty straightforward. But as you poke along, you find yourself always hunting for more information than whats provided in the help section. I have not read the TTS documentation but Ive heard that it was pretty good.
No criticism intended here, as I said, I realize its still a newborn. But hopefully the requests will be noted. Perhaps after the AutoTune is developed and implemented they might put some energy into documentation.
