mine is mounted on my bars, so I can check the set AFR, current mpg, gear, ect.
I had mine adjusted at a shop, but he did it like a carb bike, just set basically the whole map to 13.8 and then adjusted the efficiency across multiple locations. Ive tweaked it based on performance and sound. it popped a LOT when I got it, now it almost never pops except when its COLD. id love to dyno it to dial it in more but with covid and a 2 y/o its fine for now

I tour 2-up a lot. About 25-30K yr avg these last several years. While I don’t keep the PV on bars all the time, but I do keep it in the bag. I routed the cable under the tank to bars and bought a quick-release AMP ball mount for my bars. I can mount and remove it in 30 seconds which comes in handy at times.
I run with a few different tunes for different purposes and seasons. Right now, it’s blazing hot in my world, so I have a rich tune loaded to try and keep the engine a little cooler. In the milder climates, I like to get better fuel economy and extend my range per tankful of fuel. So, I run a leaner tune in the cruising range most of the time when I can get away with it.

You may find that after you’ve learned how this EFI stuff works (and I mean really understand it), you’ll like making some changes on the fly, but those changes will likely be limited to tweaking your VE tables in the so called autotune mode. I tend to use the logging function and tweak tunes close to home where I have a computer and software to see what’s happening offline. Road tuning using the PV for data collection is not a total substitute for a real Dyno, but it comes damned close with enough time and careful attention to load and environmental conditions on a closed road. For me, this EFI tuning is fun and satisfying and connects me even more tightly with my bike. And, since I do all my work on my bike anyway, it works for me.

The PV has some other benefits, too, in that it allows you to see what most of the various sensors are while riding and log them to an exportable file for offline analysis. The PV can be a tremendous diagnostic tool. Also, the ability to read error codes and reset them if necessary can be another reason to keep it with you while riding far from home.

Most of us don’t know what we don’t know. But, with enough time on the same bike, most of us know improvement when we get it. And we know when we’ve taken a step backwards too. The log files don’t lie, so yes there are some actual quantifiable metrics to guide what you feel in the seat of the pants and what you hear.

The final benefit of the PV is that most indy dyno techs worth their salt will work with the PV on the Dyno if you just want to skip all the road tuning stuff. I believe there are some good dealership tuning techs too, but many are by the book MoCo and may not be up to getting you max full range benefits from your dyno tune from idle to cruise to WOT.

Just my .02

K

Well said, I am new to my Power Vision and EFI tuning. I came from carved bikes recently. Loved playing with those and an AFR gauge.
The Delphi system is a complex system and I have just started to play with it. I want to.learn as much as I can about the Power Vision and the Delphi system.
Understanding what I am seeing in the VE tables and how it relates to tune adjustments, capping, scaling etc and knock events is where I am starting.

Power vision is not water proof. Also if left on the bike all the time after awhile screen will fade some. it is a great tool for many things . Best mount I have found is Fuel Moto part number FM-Barmount.
$24.95

https://www.fuelmotousa.com/i-208594...bar-mount.html

Flexible holds unit well easy to take off. they also sell a sunscreen attachment I never found very useful. The mount use to come with it but all cost have been going up so now it is sold as a stand alone.

Buy your Power vision or other parts from Fuel Moto they will supply you a tune . You will find it very good for the setup you have.
