Originally I was going to drill a hole in each half to pull them apart but then I thought about the dent puller that welds keys onto the metal then use a puller to remove the dents. To remove, you just rock the keys back and forth to break the weld and off them come. Because both pieces need refinishing I wasn't concerned about a blemish. So thats my secret I should've taken to the grave

Based on how easy they came apart I may just weld the keys on the inside and hold it in my hand and use a slide hammer on the inside pulling on the keys. It'll either come apart or fly across the shop when it comes out of my hand.

I have been told the same that long ones are for the Servicars. Never thought about cutting one, the things you consider to do and then accomplish as no big deal are impressive. Good luck.

Its seems pretty easy but I chose the speedo end because it can't be seen once the bike is together so there's room for error. I bought a power cable crimping tool that looks like bolt cutters with a variety of different sized dies on the end, that just leaves getting the end off without destroying it so I can reuse it. Stay tuned!

Now I have an NOS knuckehead cable for $90.

I have a really nice used one on its way for $54 which I'll shorten and put in with a batch of cad plating later on. I'll be dropping off a couple of my used ones monday for plating and I'll have them back fast. I'll use this NOS one on the 46.

M35 Linkert, correct for 46. Later M35's like on the 48 have the spring loaded air bypass in the choke plate. A few problems with this one that looks like it could just be used. It needs to be painted black, the upper shaft bushing is sloppy, float level is low and so on,

Im breaking with the popular trend to run a rubber ducky float. Getting one up here is part of the problem, the other reason is every automotive carb I restore has brass floats, rarely does one leak and become a weight. I tested it, it looks well made, Im using it.

Picked these up today. For a pair they usually cost more than a shovelhead engine, these I got for a song and I couldn't sing to save my life. The one on the right has raised ribs, the left cap had indented grooves, both were correct at the time as they came from different vendors as I understand it, possibly 3 different places were stamping caps at the time. I'll restore them both and keep looking for another two like them, worst case they go on the bike.

It took some time but my fenders and tanks are painted. Tank needs final polish but looks great right out of the gun.

Front fender, too nice to use. (thats the painter)
