I looking at a set of CVO mufflers and would swap the cores for the Fullsac cores. For those of y'all running them, do you see a significant increase in performance?

There a couple cheaper 2-1-2 catless headers out there. Supertrap makes one. It's $350 or so.

i emailed SuperTrapp, and their Tech said they will not make a 2017 headpipe with the 1.75 outlets due to the 2 inch outlet being a concern for heat evacuation & performance.

I did not bother to send him a link to the S&S pipe.
if that S&S pipe had a cross over in the right location, that would be sweet.

i would "think" that removing the CAT obviates the need for the 2 inch outlet.

but i am waiting on my tranny leak to be fixed before I sink any $$ into this bike

I have the 2" cores in cvo cans on my 17 sg and had them on my 15 sg.
Did not notice any improvement in performance on either bike with just slipons.
The 15 I removed the cat and tuned with TTS and it definitely ran better.

Also not much change in sound on the 17 because the cat is still in the pipe.

Once the warranty runs out I will add the MX header, cam and tune with TTS.

If your looking for better performance just slipons will not get you there.

Hey folks -

I installed the MX header a couple of days ago and a TTS tune from Fullsac. I paired the header with V&H 400's that I already had. Using a S&S stealth here (still need to choose a cover). The install was pretty straight forward and the fit was great. The final crossover hanger is a bit of a bear to tighten once everything else is snug, but that's the order indicated.

The tune increased the warm idle by about 150 rpm. The exhaust is not even out both sides at idle still, but is significantly closer than stock and once you rev it a bit both sides flow a fair amount of exhaust through them.

The idle sound isn't necessarily much louder than what I got when I put just slip-ons on, but it created a much more distinct Harley sound rather than just making noise like before. The cat smooths out the pulses of the exhaust sound is how I would describe the change at idle. Once you turn the throttle at all it's significantly louder, barkier, deeper, etc. Sounds great for a 2-1-2.

All combined, I'm feeling the biggest difference from WAY down low... Like rolling on from 1500 is possible now and pulls noticeably harder from the 1800 to maybe 2600 range. No dyno yet, so this is all seat-of-my-pants testing.

Snuck out in between rain storms to grab you all a quick phone clip. Doesn't do it justice, but enjoy!

Anyone looking at 2-1 headers? Freedom Performance makes one that sounds great. I know it changes the look of the bike but I’m an engineer at heart and I hate complication the outlet gases by running them every which way. There’s also a Chinese company called Danmoto that makes one which sounds great and has apparently good increases in HP and Torque but unsure about quality.

Would love to hear from any of you. Thanks for all the good input so far.

I would stay away from the Freedom pipe. Several people around here had issues with the welds coming loose.

You will be hard pressed to beat the performance of the Fullsac MX head pipe on an M8. My 18 CVO road glide has had the following done to it. Fullsac MX head pipe, Fullsac 2.25 muffler cores, with the tech mat, TTS tuner and a full dyno tune. Talk about a good gain from just a good exhaust.
