I have a 17 RGU with a twin cooled M8.. I notice that the EITMS activates almost at every stop.. sometimes before the coolant fans come on.. so my question is: what is supposed to happen first.. coolant fans run or EITMS activates?.. temps have been around 85 degrees and a lot of stop and go traffic.. the mods I have in place are: Vance and Hines VO2 naked air intake using the stock cover.. V&H power dual headpipes.. (which I feel should keep the engine running cooler.. and re-using the stock mufflers.. (which sound pretty darn good) and (until the V&H Monster V's are available).... thanks for any input

I have a Road King and in norther NJ where i live the EITMS has been kicking in at every light since I enabled it a week ago once the bike is up to temp. But if its all about preventing the build up of heat, I guess its doing its job. Im gonna name my bike "Pogo" for how it bounces around when its on.A little annoying really.
EITMS activates when the ambient air temp is 80 degrees. Has nothing to do with radiator fans. It can be disabled by rolling and holding your throttle forward when you are stopped. All outlined in your owners manual

i did it. I did not feel any significant improvement regarding temp with the EITMS... and hate that bouncing and also how it manage the idle
I wonder after so long using the EITMS. Wonder how much stress it puts on the engine front cylinder connecting rod and crank bearings. Just firing on one cylinder.

Clearly you didn't read your owners manual. And you are over thinking. Just leave it on and stop obsessing.

the thing is EITMS has been around for many many years now, countless bikes and miles and I don't ever recall any engine wear/damage ever reported..I used to consider any possible detrimental side effects as well but gave up on those thoughts after keeping it enabled on many bikes and miles over the years with no apparent ill effects...might just keep this bike for 100,000 miles at this point so who knows what might crop up long term
I just don't like it. I deal with this by not idling in traffic very much. Here in SoCal we have the Very Great Luxury of lane splitting. No need to sit and idle. I see how it could be argued the other direction, saying well if it hardly ever activates then why not just keep it activated? True, but I just don't like that EITMS idle even for a few seconds.
