I will get you some numbers we make them 7 1/2 to 1 - its 3 HP with todays gas and it starts easier and its runs cooler
3 knuckles we did that way are 10 years going - with young guys who are riding un married - so you know they have miles and the iron head is not helpful
Vapor blasting. Definitely amazing results . I'll post some picks up in the next couple of days for the cases and heads.
Headed to the chrome shop to drop off parts
Lastly...anyone have a decent machine shop out here on the left coast? Bay Area or Nor-Cal?Guy I'd been using for the last 20+ years is basically just doing the new stuff now. It's where the money is I suppose. Guess I can't complain too loudly tho. Only two machinists in 53 years.
Youre also fortunate Dave to have a chrome shop nearby. Nearest one to me is in Idaho.

None left in the Valley. I now drive 2-1/2 to 3 hours (depends on Bay Area traffic) to drop off and pick up. Not sure about the rest of he country but chroming prices have jumped about 30% over the last couple of years (thanks to the EPA).
May have found another machinist too. About 1-1/2 hour drive (good-bye 20 minutes). Had a good talk on the phone. He works on a lot of old iron (Shovels and Pans). And added plus is that he owns 2 Pans himself. Gonna visit his shop next week.
Vapor blasting..for when you want it to look like brand new (well, almost anyway). Shop that does the work also does powder coating and other media blasting as well. They were very careful about making sure that things like races and such were totally sealed off
Also did the heads
Going to get the tranny apart and have them do the lid and case as well. Very pleased with the work.
