because CVO work and you ride them all over the country custom that are one off are not suitable for touring in many cases

Actually this is the culmination of long term business model they openly announced back in 2016 at the big dealers expo showcasing the release of the M8's. The MoCo openly said they there were going to start trimming offerings, limit production numbers and move some production of newer yet unreleased offerings overseas to and this is a direct publicly made quote " Bring value back to the brand name."

This has been coming a long time. Friend has bought a new CVO every 2 years since I've know him, he's called it quits this year laughing at the pricing.

I have seen a few custom designed touring bikes that make the CVO look like a tricycle.

It seems you can achieve exclusivity by building fewer things...or by pricing those things beyond the reach of most buyers. In the case of the new CVO models it appears that H-D has employed both strategies. Exclusivity typically conveys desirability, though I think the equation means less today than many years ago when the CVO project actually wowed people. Well, some of them anyway.

I enjoy looking at the CVO lineups every year. I've only really considered buying one on one occasion, but the choices in paint were very borderline to me and I couldn't accept what I didn't appreciate....especially at the price.

I personally don't care what anyone decides to invest in their passion. If you like it and you're comfortable with the cost, bingo. I've spent hundreds of thousands doing what I love over my lifetime, and almost all of it was unrecoverable. Spending $50k+ to own a CVO is just the cost of having a great time for some people, and who am I to judge that?

In my travels to various places in the mountains and coast of the western US, never seen a custom at say Yakk Montana…just saying…one thing everyone needs to remember/realize, owning a Harley or any motorcycle is a WANT, they’re not a NEED so it’s all about what one WANTS…regardless of price and what ALL of us think. Ride On!

Then the way overpriced pickup truck has some fancy cover on the bed and never carries anything in the bed other than a bag of potting soil for the wife lol.
Lots pay over MSRP for Harleys and CVO's. Same goes for in demand cars and trucks.

I have paid MSRP or less for the 7 CVO bikes I have purchased. I will not pay over.

Until my Bronco Raptor, I have paid less than MSRP for every new vehicle I have bought including my Corvettes. I had to pay MSRP for my Bronco Raptor.

i came from BMWs....always thought Harley's were great looking bikes though, but I didn't know a whole lot about CVOs when I saw my bike

stretched bags, painted fork skirt, fork covers and inner fairing, matching controls and footboards, 114 engine....i wasn't thinking...oh boy I get to join the CVO club and be a baller alpha customer....I was just thinking...that's a cool bike, i want that

my brother called it the "Dave Ramsey Special"....I definitely paid too much for it....but if we're talking value....I bought it '19 with 6500 miles....Im at 74k now, and my wife and I have ridden all over on this thing having the time of our lives.... money well spent
