I have a fatboy, and Im lookin at a whole kit right now on ebay that comes with 1 1/4 in bars, all Cables and lines for about 320$ shipped. They are 16". My question is is this a good price, cause i still have to buy the wire extensions, and does anyone have a pick of what 16" apes look like. Im hoping they arnt going to be too tall.
Alot depends on who makes the bars and cables. Are the bars drilled for Internal wiring? Don't forget that you life depends on these handlebars so don't go cheap unless they are well made. You will most likely have to change the Risers and put a full cover top clamp on as well.
You get what you pay for... eBay is a crap shoot.
Post the ebay link and let's see what you are looking at.
I'm getting ready to install a set of Wild 1 Chubby's 12.5" though.
My bars are 12.5", but the 16s are not too extreme in my opinion, they are pretty comfortable. I might would go with those if I was doing it over.
My bars cost $100.00, if you go with wild1's they will cost you $160 - $170 from zanottimotor.com (big discount, good service).
I used standard 16 guauge wire from home depot to extend wiring for about $5.00
I used +6 barnet cables and the +6 HD Brake line, you may need to go longer for 16" bars.
That's probably not a bad price, but you may be able to do a little better. Depends on what brand cables, bars, etc. you go with. Does the kit include controls, switches, etc. as well? If sothen it is a good price for sure, if not, could still be a good price.

Why? If your risers are stock, as long as the bars are 1" in the center and 1" on the ends, they will accomodate stock risers and controls. You can add taller risers for additional height if wanted, but no necessary.

I guess your right. On the Deluxe the Risers are Pull Back and not really functional for Apes. I bought a set of 1.5" Burley Risers to replace the Pull Back ones.
I forgot he has a Fatboy...
I also got my Wild 1 Chubbys for $114 Shipped. Bought them from Dennis Kirk's Scratch and Dent sale on eBay. Perfect except for some slight chrome rub on the ends where the Grips will cover anyway.
