Hi all. I just got my 24 Heritage this spring and noticed that when I was travelling at my usual cruising speed of 112 km/h I was constantly getting passed. Now before the "why so slow" bitchin starts, here in Saskatchewan, Canada, the cops leave a lone biker alone if you are going that speed on a 100 km/h highway. So today while out for a rip, I stopped for a coffee at Tim Horton's, and downloaded the top-rated speedo app in the Google store. On the way home sure enough, my speedo is out 4-5%. In order to be doing 112, I have to be travelling at 118-119 on my speedo.
Is there a way a guy can correct this on his own or does he have to take it to the dealer? I think I know the answer, but ya never know.
There are a few aftermarket devices that might work, Speedo Healer and Speedo DRD...I had great results with a Speedo DRD but that was on a Honda. FWIW haven't needed one for my older Harleys, the speedos are dead accurate.
If it's new/ under warranty take it back to the dealer and get them to recalibrate the Speedo, they 'should' be able to do this via the digital technician.
If you have a tuner like the FP3 this is also capable of recalibrating the speedo as well as many others, do not go buy something to fix it when the dealer should fix it!
i all. I just got my 24 He. On the way home sure enough, my speedo is out 4-5%. In order to be doing 112,
You will find your car or truck will be 5% low as well. Manufactures do this so they aren't liable for your speeding ticket. Very common unless you have a police bike or vehicle with the calibrated speedo.
if speedo says 100 kph, but really only going 95
in an hour consistent speed, the odometer will record 100 klicks traveled, when in reality it's 95
..L.T.A.
No. But I looked at in in my mind as having a smaller tire circumstances would slow speedometer and odometer down.
But actually it may not affect it. In reality, if you drove 5 mile along side a correctly calibrated speedometer/odometer, and both at 60 mph, the one off 5% would just take longer to get there.
However, now I am really confused what it correct.
Thanks for calling me on that.
Been 50+ years since I had Calculus. And the boards were still black..
