Battery & Engine Light

Hello,

I have a 2006 FLSTNI Softtail Deluxe and I was wondering what it means when the engine light and battery light come on at the same time?

This seems this only occurs when it's hot out and I'm in traffic or on a long ride while it is hot outside.

Any thoughts?

Wonder if your regulator is cutting out when it gets a bit too hot.

Have you tried running a diagnostice and see what code comes up?

In my case it turned out to be a bad speedometer unit. The dealer ran diagnostics (allegedly...) three times. Replaced the ECM first, then tried replacing the TSS module, then finally just replaced the speedo with another unit. That seems to have finally cured the problem.

I have not ran any diagnostics, but will. Do I have to wait for the symptom to occur before I will get a code? Thanks for all the help!

From what I understand from the instructions that I received, the code should show up when you run the diagnostics.

Looks like I may have found the problem I ran the diag and it came up wtih the following code...
P0562 Battery Voltage Low EFI

So I am assuming my battery is not holding a good charge. Thanks for the diag instructions and all the help!
