One cheap mod lead into another. 1st was I restored old crushed saddlebags by re-riveting flaps from a diff set of bags, re-dyeing, and changing chrome spots to back (cpl $100 saved).
Made a paper template then cutting & heat molding ABS plastic for inserts to keep the shape. ($60-$100 saved)
Then Signal lights needed to be relocated. So Drilled two 3/8 holes in plastic license plate bracket (make sure even and behind plate) and just attached signals. No relocation kit needed. ($40 saved there)
Couldn't sleep last night, and thinking of the bike, came up with this filter cover to work with the football mod I'd already done:
I was lucky. The "pot" was half of a camping set that I'd drilled previously to use as a windscreen for my alcohol stoves in camp. It fit the filter perfectly, and even the original cover, so I just had to drill a centered hole and polish it up.
Cost: zip.

Looks very nice... since it's a plastic bracket I'd be careful & watch it for any cracks. A few hard bounces might prove to be too much weight for that bracket. Very sleek, tho!!!
Got another Air Cleaner cover Idea.. How bout an old GRINDER WHEEL?! Depends on what look your going for but I personally like it more than the CD Idea. Especially if you have a denim or blacked out bike or a train. Plus If your already using a grinder and are replacing a wheel anyway, Its basically free. Kudos to my buddy Greg!
